Wichita filming in SoWa

Last week Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were at Gaslight filming scenes for their new movie. The parking lot that houses the SoWa Open Market every Sunday was full of trailers and big trucks that generate massive amounts of electricity and caterers and crew members and security and a bunch more people doing probably-important things…

Here’s a photo of the paparazzi standing around… doing what they do best!
Wichita Paparazzi = hilarious!
and a photo of a couple of extras waiting for their scene:
Tom Cruise body double?
Tom Cruise’s trailer was parked right outside our back window at the office. He was there, avoiding the paparazzi, reading over lines. Where are the photos? I’m just not that kind of person! Sorry!
But lucky for you Tom Cruise’s appearance at the SoWa Open Market was captured on camera phone. Ah, technology!

it was hot.

Sunday, Illinois-based band Elsinore surprised/graced the SoWa Open Market with their presence and quite possibly rocked our pants off, though I’d have to check on that.

ElsinoreMeanwhile, everyone has been making fun of Chris Masci (SoWa Open Market manager) for taking photos of the clouds. But these altered photos are freaking amazing! and kind of scary.

Stuff you can buy me for my birthday…

Every weekend I see something that I haven’t seen before and that I absolutely need! Like this set of 4 chairs from the Antiques Market. And the ingenuity of the vendors never ceases to amaze me. I adore the one-of-a-kind handbags from Frock made of repurposed fabric from vintage coats and the glasses made of melted and stretched beer and soda bottles. The bracelets in the last photo are made from old silverware and are a steal at $20 each!

Russo’s Food & Produce Market

While not all of these delicious looking fruits and veggies are local and in-season right now, the berries and the lettuce are! Russo’s produce is top of the line, and I love that they partner with local farmers whenever they possibly can. Plus, going to the Produce Market each week is like a mini lesson in New England crops and what time of year each food is harvested.
